Las Vegas. March 2011, EK 215.

The Luxor Hotel
Emirates have been flying a Boeing 777-200LR from Dubai to Los Angeles since 2008. This is a long flight, 16 hours and 30 minutes nonstop. They seem to be occurring more and more on the rota and in March there it was again. So let’s face it, DXB-LAX-DXB has become a grind, to escape such monotony why not pack your bags, channel your inner Showgirl, and head to Vegas for some glitz, glamour and good times, baby! So with a spontaneous throw of the fuzzy dice, it was time to indulge in the great American pastime … The Road Trip.
Starting point Dubai, EK 215 DXB 08.20- arrive in LAX at 12.50.
Check in to crew hotel, hire a car. It's less than 300 miles between the City of Angels and the City of Sin. The traffic was not bad and a mere four hours later she saw a beam of light. The Luxor light.  And, as Americans know,  when you see the strong beam of light coming out of the top of the Luxor pyramid, shooting into the sky, you know you're about to finally hit Vegas. It was the right location to head for as that was where a room had been booked, for the incredible price of $25.00 per night.
A short power nap later it was time to hit the Strip. and in the words of Franks daughter; 'Are you ready Boots? Then....Lets Walk........'

The Bellagio Fountains were as awsome as legend has it, they dance half-hour between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and every 15 minutes from then 'til midnight, the 8.5-acre lake in the middle of the desert explodes with 1,214 spritzers shooting water up to 460 feet in the air — the water rockets and dances, perfectly choreographed to Frank Sinatra or Gene Kelly or "One Singular Sensation" from A Chorus Line. You gotta love it!
The New York roller coaster was ridden around New York. Paris, Venice, Ceasers and the MGM lions all seen. The White Chapel visited and downtown Vegas Lights experienced in all their glory.
Time did not allow for pool party's, fine dining, the Liberace Museum or a show. And all to soon it was time to hit the road and drive a sleepy ride back to LA. AT 15.15 the next day it was time to check in for EK216 LAX to DXB 15 hours and 45 minutes (and one day) later at 19.45. the next day was a 'rest day', it was needed!
